'Agreement' on multi-billion dollar key mineral access deal: Ukraine's precious deposits that the US wants to get at all costs.
US President Donald Trump says he hopes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign the deal this week.
A senior official in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, has confirmed that Ukraine has agreed to a deal with the United States on the acquisition of minerals.
"We have agreed to it after some good amendments (to the agreement) and Ukraine considers it a positive development," the Ukrainian official said, without giving further details on the deal.
There have also been reports that the United States has reneged on its original terms of the mineral acquisition agreement, which stipulated that the United States would receive a share of $500 billion in profits from Ukrainian minerals.
Ukraine also asked the United States to guarantee its security in exchange for this agreement, but Washington has not yet given any authoritative answer in this regard.US President Donald Trump says he hopes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign the deal this week.
However, according to the Ukrainian news website "Ukrainska Prada", the mineral agreement between the two countries will be signed by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State.
We want our money back. We're helping them (Ukraine) deal with a big problem and the American taxpayers will get their money back.
"Yesterday, Ukrainian Minister Olga Stefanyshina also wrote in a post on social media platform "X" that "the talks between the United States and Ukraine have been very constructive and almost all the important details (regarding it) have been finalized."
We are determined to sign this agreement soon," he added.
Keep in mind that for the past several weeks, the US administration has been pressuring Ukraine to sign this agreement, and for this reason, tensions between the presidents of the two countries were also seen.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky first offered Donald Trump access to Ukraine's minerals in September last year as part of his so-called 'conquest plan'.
At the time, he believed that a strong presidential candidate (Trump) needed to make an attractive offer to continue supporting Ukraine.
